Welcome to the One Globe Kids website, owned and operated by Round by Design. We’re happy you’re here.
One Globe Kids values your privacy and, above all else, the privacy of your children. Children under 13 years of age are the primary user group of One Globe Kids. In the below policies, whenever we use the term “user” we assume this includes children under 13 years of age unless specifically noted otherwise.
Before we get to the details, here’s a quick summary of what you get with the One Globe Kids products, App Friends and Online Friends:
One Globe Kids is a MOMs with apps member and a supporter of the KNOW what's inside campaign. "When you see the KNOW what's inside logo, it is a signal to parents that the app maker takes your privacy seriously. Their apps are designed especially for children, with special attention to online privacy. By committing to tell you how their apps work with clearly written privacy policies and descriptions, you know what to expect - no unwanted surprises or tricks." - MOMs with apps
Our general website provides information about One Globe Kids and our products, the One Globe Kids app and the One Globe Kids Online Friends platform.
No personally identifiable information is collected when users visit the One Globe Kids website (www.oneglobekids.com). Although we do use Google Analytics to collect general statistics about how our website is found and which pages are most visited, we only do so using IP masking to ensure that this data collection is completely anonymous. Use of our site cannot be tracked back to a complete IP address or any other personally identifying data.
We use anonymous statistics collected by Google Analytics to understand how our website is found by users and what parts of the website are visited the most often. Your IP address is “masked,” which means that the final digits are removed prior to the collection of any information. Because of this, the data is completely anonymous and cannot be associated with individuals or a particular computer.
While our products, the One Globe Kids app and Online Friends platform, do not contain any links to other websites, our general website does have limited direct links to other websites. From our homepage, you can visit One Globe Kids on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. Visitors are also given the option of sharing our site via a variety of social media programs.
In our blog, we may include links to other global and international resources for parents, children, and educators. We include these links because we like these things and think that you might as well.
The One Globe Kids app:
Within the One Globe Kids app, users may upload their own image, take their own photo, or select an icon to use within the app. This image, photo or icon is only stored locally on the device and cannot be transferred or shared.
Within the One Globe Kids app, users may record themselves and listen to their own voice (counting in Kirundi, for example!). These recordings are only stored locally on the device and cannot be transferred or shared.
Within the app, users can “put themselves and their friends on the globe.” This information is only stored locally on the device and cannot be transferred or shared. You can put a dot on the map on your screen, but there is no connection whatsoever to any mapping or geo-location service. It’s intended to help children understand where they live in relation to their new friends.
The One Globe Kids app does not collect or use any user information. The images, audio, and map locations that you create within the app remain on your individual device and are never transferred or shared.
Users may view preview images from the stories of friends they may want to meet without any personal information being collected. No personally identifiable information is collected on the One Globe Kids Online Friends platform (https://subscription.oneglobekids.com) unless a user chooses to sign up or log in. Although we do use Google Analytics to collect general statistics about how our website is found and which pages are most visited, we only do so using IP masking to ensure that this data collection is completely anonymous. Use of our website cannot be tracked back to a complete IP address.
Users who wish to read One Globe Kids stories via the Online Friends platform are asked to create an account, which requires a username, parent’s email address, and password.
Users who decide to purchase access to a One Globe Kids story online are asked to provide personal information to facilitate this purchase transaction including the name on the credit card, the address for the card, and the credit card details. This information is processed by Authorize.net and only used to complete the requested transaction. It is not stored.
The username, email address, and password created during registration on the One Globe Kids Online platform are never shared with a third party and cannot be used for user-to-user contact. We do not collaborate or share any information with advertising agencies or other third parties beyond what is required to complete a user’s purchase on the site or provide us with anonymous, general information about how our website is used.
The username and password are used solely for the purpose of providing support for the internal operations of the site and personalized content. Personalized content means that when a user log's in, they directly access their own personalized account with their “My Friends” (the free ‘Valdo in Haiti’ story and other stories they have purchased) and can browse “New Friends” (friends they have not yet met). The username and password enable a user to log in and access the stories they have purchased within the One Globe Kids platform.
The parent’s email address is used by One Globe Kids to confirm parental consent for a particular user to access the Online Friends platform and to notify parents when new friends join the platform (if they choose to be notified):
Once a user has logged in and is viewing friend’s stories purchased via the One Globe Kids Online Friends platform (https://subscription.oneglobekids.com), session cookies create a random session ID to keep users logged in and to enable them to navigate the site and access the stories they have already purchased. Session cookies exist only when users are using the website and are deleted when the user logs out and/or closes her web browser. They do not allow personally identifiable information to be tracked over time or across different websites or services.
We use anonymous statistics collected by Google Analytics to understand how our website is found by users and what parts of the website are visited the most often. Each IP address is “masked,” which means that the last digits are removed prior to the collection of any information. Because of this, the data is completely anonymous and cannot be associated with individuals or a particular computer.
The security, integrity and confidentiality of user information are extremely important to us. We have implemented technical, administrative and physical security measures that are designed to protect user information from unauthorized access, disclosure, use, and modification.
When a user accesses any web page in the Online Friends platform domain (subscriptions.oneglobekids.com), they are automatically redirected to the HTTPS version of the page, which means that they have established a secure SSL connection. This SSL connection means that their web browser (Internet Explorer, Safari, Chrome, Firefox, etc.) has examined the SSL certificate from our website and determined it to be authentic. All information entered online via a secure SSL connection is encrypted before being sent over the server. This is a standard internet security protocol that is used to prevent security breaches of valuable data, including financial data.
Please be aware though that, despite our best efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable.
You may contact us to access, change, or delete the personal information that we have collected by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include the user’s name and email address associated with your registration on the One Globe Kids site in the e-mail so that we can better assist you with your inquiry or request.
